Class C motorhomes are a great way to hit the open road without giving up on comfort, space, and convenience. Though not the largest RVs out there, they offer a powerful, capable base vehicle, often have expandable sides, and have enough storage to keep the whole family happy. Jayco’s latest Class C, the Redhawk 29XK, is one of the best options in the segment, so let’s take a closer look at what makes it tick.
Jayco based the new Redhawk on the Ford E-450 chassis, which brings a gross vehicle weight rating of 14,500 pounds. It’s powered by a 7.3-liter gas V8 engine making 325 horsepower and 450 pound-feet of torque, which reaches the rear wheels through a six-speed automatic transmission. Other features include a 55-gallon fuel tank, a 7,500-pound hitch, hill-start assist, cruise control, and electronic stability control.
Exterior features include solar power prep, a water filtration system, an outside shower, 30-amp electrical service, two high-output marine-grade speakers, a slideout awning, frameless windows, leveling jack prep, aluminum running boards, remote keyless entry, and an electric-powered entry step.
Cooks will love the Redhawk’s kitchen. It’s surprisingly spacious, offering a stainless steel sink, a three-burner cooktop, an oven, a microwave, and a large-enough 12-volt fridge to hold days’ worth of groceries. Jayco fits a roomy dinette table that converts into a sleeping space.
The onboard bathroom is accommodating for taller adults, and most will find plenty of headroom in the shower. The shower has a skylight, making it feel much larger, and decorative lighting brightens it up further. Interior safety equipment includes a smoke alarm, a carbon monoxide detector, and a fire extinguisher.
The Redhawk also has a single air conditioning unit with enough grunt to cool the entire rig. For cooler days, the rig has an electric fireplace and a 30,000-BTU auto-ignition furnace system. The main sleeping space features a Serta queen-size mattress with ample room to move around the bed. Jayco installed a hanging closet, though space there is somewhat limited.
Jayco offers a range of customization and upgrade options, including a 200-watt solar panel with a dual controller and additional battery. Buyers can add a dual-13,500-BTU air conditioning system with a power management system and a folding windshield sunshade to cool things down beyond the standard A/C system’s capabilities. Finally, buyers have two theater seating systems, one of which adds a TV in the cab-over space.
If you want to tour the new Jayco Redhawk or any other new model, Valley RV should be your first call. We’d be excited to walk you through the new RVs, discuss the standard and available features, and help you test drive or order the new Jayco of your dreams.
