Tips to Maximize RV Fun and Comfort

Jayco Seneca Prestige Living Space

Buying a new RV is one of the most exciting things you can do, and it’s easy to get caught up in thinking about all the fun trips, camping adventures, and remote living you can do. While it’s okay to be excited and daydream, it’s a good idea to take a few steps to maximize the fun and sense of adventure you get in your RV. Here are a few tips to get you started.

Maintain Your RV

In addition to needing all the same basic maintenance and repair work your car does, RVs also have a range of home-like components that need regular upkeep. Take the time to perform routine maintenance on the engine and drivetrain components, including checking and changing fluids and other items. Follow the manufacturer’s instructions to properly maintain interior finishes, including appliances and other gear.

Treat Your RV Like Home

Traveling and living in one space can be complicated at times, so it’s important to keep your RV clean and in good condition, just like you do with your actual home. Clean as you go, making sure not to leave dirty dishes, pooled water, or dirty laundry laying around. A dirty space will make your trip more stressful and less fun, and it can attract rodents, bugs, and other pests.

You may also want to customize your RV space with personalized blankets, pillows, and other accents. While you probably won’t want to paint or make any structural repairs to the vehicle, taking the time to spruce up the RV’s interior can make it much more comfortable and accommodating for you and your passengers.

Organize Yourself

Your RV is your home away from home, but that doesn’t mean you need to bring everything with you on the road. Plan ahead for your trip and bring only the gear you need for the duration. RVs can be quite spacious and accommodating, but they aren’t capable of carrying everything from home and a load of people. This also applies to food and cooking. Carry foods that you can cook in the vehicle and try to avoid eating out or bringing tons of instant or ready-to-eat foods, which can take up space and become expensive.
