The Northwest United States and Southwest Canada are some of the most scenic places in the world, offering breathtaking views and a scale not seen elsewhere in their countries. Wide-open spaces make the region ideal for RV camping, and most of the popular tourist areas offer multiple campgrounds and accommodations. Here are our picks for the best places to camp in the Northwest.
Before going too far, it’s important to note that many of the most popular campgrounds in the Northwest are located on the coast. While many offer stunning scenery and fantastic outdoor activities, we’ve focused more on campgrounds located a bit off the beaten path.
Golden Ears Provincial Park
Golden Ears is located about an hour from Vancouver in southern British Columbia. The park offers miles of trails, old-growth forests, and views for days. Several nearby campgrounds have nicer-than-expected accommodations, including the North Beach Campground, which offers a rustic experience with the amenities you need to stay comfy and well-rested for your adventures.
Thousand Trails in Long Beach
Located in Washington’s southwestern-most tip, the Thousand Trails campground offers RV resort camping and plenty of desirable amenities. Campers have access to a pool and RV hookups, and the on-site beach is a must-visit for anyone at the campground. If RV camping isn’t on your list, the location also offers yurts.

Diamond Lake
Diamond Lake sits in Oregon’s Umpqua National Forest. There’s no RV camping in the park, making Diamond Lake an excellent home base. Beyond hiking and other activities in the National Forest, Diamond Lake has little light pollution, which makes it a prime spot for stargazing.

The Hoh Rainforest
Washington’s Hoh Rainforest feels like it’s from another planet, with greenery and forest as far as you can see. The region has great hiking, and the forest is packed with plants and animals that make for excellent photography opportunities.
Mill Creek Campground at Del Norte Coast Redwoods
Not to leave California out of the mix, the Mill Creek Campground is located deep in the woods about 2.5 miles off Highway 101. Campers can visit redwood trees in the area, and the forest has several unique new-growth redwood stumps.
