Jayco’s JaySMART (Safety Markers and Reverse Travel) system is a fantastic way to help ensure your safety. It works with the RV’s taillights, turn signals, and other systems to clearly indicate your intentions to other drivers. Depending on the model, it flashes the high-mounted brake light and prominently displays turn signals and other lights for the best visibility.
When the driver activates a turn signal, side marker lights flash in unison with the turn indicator lights, alerting motorists in all directions of the RV’s intention. It also works with the vehicle’s caution lights, flashing all lighting units together when activated. Jayco says the system also pairs with any tow vehicle without any tools or adjustments needed.
Jayco’s Chris Barth said of the system in 2018, “Our goal was to provide 360 degrees of visibility to our customers’ intentions while traveling. Safety comes first and our products are enhanced with the JaySmart system. We’re excited to implement this innovation across multiple Jayco lines this fall.”
In addition to brake and turn signal lights, JaySMART brings an LED backup light. The bright LED illuminates a wide area behind the vehicle when it’s shifted into reverse, and Jayco offers backup camera options to increase visibility. This can be extremely helpful when towing long trailers, as even the most well-equipped tow vehicles often lack the mirror and camera capacity to cope.
Jayco offers JaySMART on a handful of new RV models, including the Eagle, North Point, Pinnacle, Seismic, and Seismic Luxury. While it might be tempting to wait and add the lights with aftermarket components, they won’t offer the same level of integration and ease of use as delivered by JaySMART. Finally, Jayco uses Goodyear tires with Durawall technology, which add another layer of peace of mind and help keep your RV rolling safely for miles and years to come.
